In today’s episode, we share the inspirational story of Emerson, an adventurous two-year-old girl. Her mother Katie discusses learning of Emerson’s congenital nephrotic syndrome diagnosis eight weeks after she was born and how quickly connecting with Facebook groups provided much-needed support.
Also in this episode, Katie talks about the relationship between the family’s three daughters, and last week’s exciting news of Emerson reaching the transplant eligibility weight of 22 pounds. Katie also gives advice to any parents just learning of a challenging diagnosis: don’t be scared because no child follows a textbook. As her mother says, Emerson is writing her own novel.
